MBK! AU: The First Tremor

"Amber!" Tasha called over her shoulder as the matronly woman turned back into the kitchen "Come down and help me with the roast!" 
"yes nana!" Amber's familiar voice echoed from the top of the stairs. 

Jaden turned away from the cold stares of Amber's grandfather and brothers, gazing up as his partner descended.....

and felt his heart shudder. 

Gone was the finery, the elegant weave of her huntress gear, the glittering golden boots and forest green cape, the bracelets and silken blouse. 

As Amber reached the bottom of the stairs, she fluffed her chocolate hair out from within the confines of an oversized sweater, which enveloped her like a marshmallow. Shorts the same color as her combat leggings peeked out from beneath it, just covering her long legs clad in the cream-colored stockings she habitually wore. She seemed to be emanating warmth, comfort, in a manner different to her usual state: This....had she always been this cute? 
Her arms were raised about her head as she adjusted her hair....and then her eyes opened, spotting her partner's stare. 

"Jaden?" She asked, concern filling her voice. she crossed over to him, a concerned hand falling on his arm. 
"You alright? You look a little flushed!" 

"Aaah....Ah...." 

"Here, sit down." Amber said, guiding the redhead over to one of the thick chairs in the living room. She placed a hand to his forehead. 
"Oh dear, you do feel a little warm...Hold on, i'll get you some tea, Nana!" She called, disappearing into the kitchen, leaving Jaden to gaze at her retreating back and ignore the scathing-and knowing- looks the Valewood men were giving him.....
